Plain-language summary
This summary helps you understand how refunds work for WeTree purchases. It is not a substitute for the full refund policy below. If anything here conflicts with the official policy, the official policy controls.
- Paddle is the merchant of record. Paid WeTree purchases (Family plan subscriptions, family contributions, and donations) are sold by Paddle, not by Askewsoft directly.
- Request refunds through Paddle at paddle.net (or via the receipt / manage-subscription links in your purchase email).
- 14-day window. Subject to Paddle’s policies and applicable law, you may request a refund within 14 days of the transaction. Local consumer laws may give you additional rights.
- Cancel ≠ refund. Canceling a subscription stops future renewals and keeps paid features until the end of the period you already paid for. It does not automatically refund past charges.
Your use is also governed by our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Product questions: legal@askewsoft.com
Official Refund Policy
This Refund Policy is issued by Steven Quince, doing business as Askewsoft, located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. It applies to purchases of WeTree products and services processed through Paddle.
1. Merchant of record
Paid WeTree offerings are sold by Paddle as the merchant of record. Paddle handles checkout, payment processing, invoicing, tax collection (where applicable), and buyer support for payment transactions.
Payment, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics for those purchases are also governed by Paddle Buyer Terms and the Paddle Refund Policy. Where this page and Paddle’s policies differ, Paddle’s policies control for payment and refund processing, except where mandatory consumer-protection law requires otherwise. Nothing here limits your non-waivable statutory rights.
2. Products covered
- WeTree Family Plan subscriptions (founding and standard; monthly or annual)
- Family contributions (one-time payments toward a family subscription term)
- Donations to support WeTree development
3. Refund period
Subject to Paddle’s Refund Policy and applicable law, change-of-mind or discretionary refund requests should be submitted within 14 days of the transaction date.
In some countries, consumers have additional statutory withdrawal or cooling-off rights (for example 14 days in the EU/EEA/UK for certain digital services). Where those rights apply, the highest mandatory protection controls.
We do not treat all sales as final. Eligibility is determined under Paddle’s policies and applicable law.
4. How to request a refund
Request refunds from Paddle:
- Use the “View receipt” or “Manage subscription” link in your Paddle transaction confirmation email; or
- Visit paddle.net and choose the refund / buyer support options; or
- Use any support link provided on your receipt or billing communications from Paddle.
If eligible, Paddle typically processes approved refunds to the original payment method within about 14 days of approval (timing may vary by payment method and bank).
For product access or technical issues that may support a refund under consumer law, contact legal@askewsoft.com first so we can try to resolve the issue; you may still contact Paddle as described above.
5. Subscriptions: cancel vs refund
You may cancel a Family subscription at any time from the in-app billing portal (or Paddle’s customer portal links). Cancellation stops future renewals. You retain paid features for the remainder of the period already paid for. After that period ends, the family returns to the free plan; tree data is not deleted solely because of cancellation.
Cancellation does not by itself entitle you to a refund of amounts already charged. Refund eligibility for a past charge follows §§3–4 and Paddle’s Refund Policy.
6. Contributions and donations
Family contributions and donations are one-time charges processed by Paddle and follow the same refund request process (§4).
If a contribution was already applied to extend a family’s paid term, a later refund of that contribution does not automatically reverse subscription time already granted. Contact legal@askewsoft.com if you need help after a contribution refund.
Donations do not purchase Family plan features or contribution balance.
7. Fraud and abuse
Refunds will not be issued where there is evidence of fraud, refund abuse, or other manipulative behaviour, consistent with Paddle’s Refund Policy.
8. Chargebacks
Please contact Paddle (and Askewsoft if the issue is about product access) before initiating a chargeback. Chargebacks may temporarily affect access while the dispute is reviewed.
9. Changes
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your transaction, together with Paddle’s then-current buyer terms and refund policy, governs that transaction.
